Meet the Owners

If you’re like us, your fur babies are part of your family and you’re looking into Pet Wants because you’re looking for a fresh, high-quality, nutritional pet food to help your pets live long, healthy lives. We’re Adam and Heather Turnage, the local owners of Pet Wants ATL Metro South, and we’re excited to help you find the best in fresh pet food and products for your pets.

We’ve had pets with food sensitivities and special nutritional needs. We know what it’s like to stand in a big box pet store trying to read ingredient labels while Googling each one to make sure nothing has been recalled. It’s frustrating and overwhelming. With Pet Wants, we can tell you exactly what’s in our fresh, clean food and when it was made.

Before Pet Wants, our granddog had all sorts of issues, including hot spots, rashes and major weight problems from not being able to digest certain ingredients. He started to show major improvements before he was even fully switched to Pet Wants. We believe in Pet Wants. We saw first-hand what high-quality, fresh and nutritious pet food can do.

Adam is a Navy veteran with a corporate background and Heather has always been a small business owner. We have three married, adult children, one granddaughter and four granddogs. We also have our own fur babies – two Australian Shepherds named Indigo and Jaxx and a rescue named Dexter. We look forward to meeting you and working with you to help improve the lives of your pets!

Our Inspiration

Very simply, you and your pets inspire us to innovate.

Pet Wants was founded on the belief that mainstream, big-box store pet food wasn’t synonymous with nutrition or quality. So, we created a better option. Second to your veterinarian, our goal is to be your trusted resource in pet care.  From food and treats to skin relief, we earn that trust through transparency of ingredients and sourcing, a knowledgeable and caring staff, and a sincere passion to be the best and provide the best for you and your pet.

History of Pet Wants

Our founder, Michele Hobbs, started Pet Wants out of love and frustration. One of her beloved dogs suffered from painful skin allergies and, no matter what food they tried, her pet continued to suffer. Michele realized very quickly that national dog food brands were not fresh, they lacked complete nutrition and, most importantly, they were filled with dozens of non-nutritious ingredients and animal byproducts

Michele decided to change that. She found a manufacturer and worked with them to formulate a custom pet food in small batches to be made fresh every month. Her animals loved the food — and so did the pets of all of her friends. Almost overnight, Pet Wants was born.
